Oscar grouchy is down in the dumps

This is Oscar right after we were admitted into St. Luke's hospital.

Oscar woke up early Thursday morning around 1 am with the squirts. (TMI?) He made a huge mess and after I cleaned him and everything else up I got him back to bed only to be awoken a half hour later with the exact same scenario. Rinse and repeat! He had 4 total in a 5 hour period. The whole morning he just seemed not himself and really lethargic. We ran some errands and by noon he was whining that he wanted to go home to take a nap. We made our last stop of lunch in the park where he nibbled on some oranges and laid in my lap. I decided to take him home, put him down for a nap and call the doctors office. Within 5 minutes he started moaning and crying saying his tummy hurt. 5 minutes later it was too much for me to handle and I turned around and headed for the doctors office. Thankfully Ryan was able to meet me there to help because shortly after getting into the exam room he barfed everywhere. After the doc saw him they ordered a blood test, a urine sample and an ultrasound. We never did get the urine sample because he never peed that entire time, he was bone dry. They really thought it was an appendicitis. All of the test showed that something was definetly wrong they just didn't know what exactly. They said they were sending us to the PICU at St. Luke's where we were being admitted for possible surgery. Before we left Ryan gave Oscar a blessing in the doctor's office. So now we were headed off to St. Luke's. This was Oscar's way of waiting for the surgeon.

By the time the surgeon got there Oscar seemed to be doing better. She said she wanted to hold off on surgery and that it might be something else. He was REALLY dehydrated and he had lots of fluid in his belly. They gave him an IV with fluids and within an hour he was able to potty. Lots and lots of it. He was finally feeling a little bit better.

They gave him lots of things to take home. Someone makes pillow cases and and blankets and donates them to the hospital and then the kids get to take them home with them. He also got this stuffed rhino and a doggy.

How sick do you have to be to not even enjoy a popsicle?

everyone is so exhausted from our crazy day.

At 4:00 am Oscar woke me up to tell me that his hand was wet. When I felt it sure enough he was wet and so was the bed. His IV had been messed up during his sleeping. They tried to fix it and ended up having to take it out completely. By the time they were done we were all wide awake. He asked for a movie and the nurse made him a snow cone. Ryan ran into work for few hours before everyone else got there so he could get some work done. He came back around 7 where he found Oscar and mommy asleep after watching Wall-E and cleaning up Oscar's upchucked snow cone. It was a busy morning.

They had to re-do his IV which he decided he hated, took another nap and then watched more movies until noon when our doctor said we could take Oscar home. He was excited to get the IV out.
